NSKC Special Lead Pack Election

Thank you for your interest in joining the Lead Pack of the North Star Kennel Club.  Our Special Election will take place on Saturday, January 26, 2019.  All Full Members who are current with their dues are eligible to be a Lead Pack Member as well as to nominate others to the open position.  Use this application to nominate yourself or another eligible member.

  • 2018 or 2019 dues paid in full.
  • Accept their nomination in person at the Lead Pack meeting following the Annual Meeting on Saturday, January 26, 2019.
  • Able to attend Lead Pack meetings, typically held on the 2nd Wednesday of the month from 7-10pm.
  • Interest in attending most Club events.
  • Interest in actively participating to improve both the events and the club.

How the Special Election Works

The board of directors of the North Star Kennel Club is called the “Lead Pack”. It consists of 12 members, elected to two-year terms. The terms are staggered so that six seats are up for election each year.  There are two open positions with terms ending at the Annual Meeting in January 2020.

Nominations are open now through January 26, 2019.  All candidates must accept their nominations in person at the Lead Pack meeting following the Annual Meeting on Saturday, January 26, 2019.  The meeting will be held between 2-5pm at The Saloon (Fire Bar). Once nominations are closed, no additional candidates will be accepted. Write-in candidacies are not permitted.

If you are a Full Member in good standing you may self-nominate or nominate another eligible member. If you are plan to nominate someone other than yourself, please speak with that person first. Secure their permission and make sure they are indeed interested in joining the Lead Pack.

If there are only one or two candidates for the positions, the Lead Pack will review their nominations and vote on whether to appoint them to one or both vacancies.

If there are more than two candidates for the positions, the Lead Pack will review and vote to accept or reject each nomination. If more than two candidates’ nominations are accepted, voting will be done by ranking the candidates in order of preference. The newly-elected members will take office immediately.
